The Training of an Integrative Coach

To become an Integrative Coach a student must go through a rigorous training program that lasts approximately a year and consists of weekly teleclsses, homework and two 3-4 day in person intensives. Our training programs are divided into three main sections. The first section focuses on a student’s personal transformational process. This deep internal work is mandatory because it is essential that an Integrative Coach be a clean instrument so that they can be completely present with their clients and support them without projecting or being distracted by any of their own issues. To this end, students are guided through visualizations, taught powerful distinctions and assigned homework exercises which lead them through a process of unconcealing their old wounds, triggers, unconscious beliefs, self-sabotaging patterns to breaking out of these old patterns of the past in order in order to reinvent themselves, redesign their lives and become the Integrative Coach that they desire to be.

Next the students transition into learning how to be a coach. Here they learn the key distinctions of the Integrative Coaching skills and ICF Core Competencies while beginning the actual practice of coaching, working through the Integrative Coaching process with fellow students as well as practice clients from outside the training program. They are required to participate in weekly class calls, skills calls, and small group calls – all under the supervision of our expert staff and an experienced mentor coach who are all to give useful feedback and additional training.

The final phase of all of our training programs is a Coaching Practicum, which students need to successfully complete in order to become certified and licensed as an Integrative Coach. This is a review and assessment process in which students in the presence of a personal reviewer must lead clients through a coaching program and pass an oral exam in order to demonstrate their knowledge effectiveness, and competency as an Integrative Coach.

Many of our Integrative Coaches are trained and certified in more than one coaching program. Our coaches realize the importance of continually doing their own work, not only for their own benefit but also for the benefit of their clients because they understand that no athlete will make it to the Olympics without a coach, and they are committed supporting their clients to achieve gold medal results in life as well!
